NICOLA

THERAPEUTIC FOREST SCHOOL LEADER – SEND TEACHER

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Nicola and I’m a Forest School leader.

I am also a mum and my children love Forest School too.

I love science and nature because it makes me go ‘wow’.
I love making things because I like being creative and I like completing intricate tasks.
I like being a little bit silly because I love to laugh.
I like digging because it makes me feel like I’ve done exercise and that makes me happy.
I like learning new things, because learning is cool.
I also like relaxing by a fire or on a swing because it makes me feel calm.

But most of all I love seeing children go ‘wow’, have fun, relax, play, find things interesting and get excited about learning something new.

I’m quite noise sensitive, I don’t really like loud noises or too much screaming and shouting, I also find it difficult when too many children are talking at once.

I will always do my best to make sure you feel safe, happy, warm and listened to in the Forest.
Please wait near me if I’m in conversation with another adult and I will ensure you will always be listened to.

If you’d like to learn anything, just ask and I can teach you how to do it safely or respectfully in the Forest.

I am able to set up PECS, symbols and objects of reference and have a small signing vocabulary. Please talk to me about your preferred communication method and I will ensure I will adapt my approach to suit you.

So, let’s build, dig, balance, learn, chop, play and relax together, the Forest is the best place to be!
